April Chapter Meeting - Professional Development Meeting - Six Thinking Hats by Dick OrthTitle: Six Thinking Hats – A Leader’s Guide to Practical Thinking - Dick Orth
Abstract: Six Thinking Hats® is a proven thinking tool for group discussions and individual thinking. It provides a framework to help people think clearly and thoroughly by directing their thinking attention in one direction at a time. The Six Thinking Hats technique stimulates clear, objective, creative thinking, and reduces the “trenching” of endless discussions and arguing. Create shorter, results-oriented meetings where people want to participate. Effectively analyze issues, generate ideas, and make better decisions. The use of hats is a simple mental metaphor. Hats are easy to put on and to take off. Each hat is a different color which signals a unique thinking ingredient. In a group setting each member thinks using the same thinking hat, at the same time, on the same topic — a process called “parallel thinking.”
