Abstract
In a span of a little over thirty-five years, the Watson School has emerged as a premier academic institution within a competitive arena that includes engineering, computer science and systems science. Today, the Watson School is ranked among the best worldwide. It has grown in different facets ranging from research and scholarship to graduate enrollment and undergraduate numbers. Enhanced quality has been a mainstay of this growth. Working in concert with large research centers on-campus and through other outreach efforts, Watson has a significant impact on New York’s economy. Watson’s graduates are sought after by industry, academia and national laboratories in our state and beyond. This presentation will discuss the growth of the Watson School in the context of a team effort that has always focused on the principal customer – the student.
